Combined Sewer Overflow # 25.

This overflow “crosses over the raceway that serves as the City’s [drinking] water supply intake” and dumps into the Brandywine River in Brandywine State Park. Notice that it is leaking sewage even in dry weather when Green Delaware took these photos. According to the City reports, this overflow dumps combined sewage into the Brandywine an average of 74 times a year, for a total of 246 million gallons/year. This is one of 19 overflows into the Brandywine, and is NOT considered a first priority for any sort of cleanup.

ACTION:
Call Chaz Salkin, Director of the Delaware Division of Parks and Recreation, at:
302.739.5285. Ask what he is doing to get the sewage out of the parks.
