Document 1:

"Army Form A. 14." : This official envelope held William Coupland's personal copies of his Parchment Discharge Papers. This envelope is constructed of blue linen backed paper. The name, "Wm. Coupland" is hand written on the front of the envelope.


Document 2:

Document 2 Reverse Side:

"Army Form B. 128." : William Coupland's Parchment Certificate of Discharge. This certificate details his place of birth, enlistment, service, and physical description on discharge.


Document 3:

Document 3 Reverse Side:

"Army Form B. 2077." : William Coupland's Parchment Certificate of Character on Discharge. This certificate details his character, trade, and physical description.


Document 4:

Document 4 Reverse Side:

"M.S. 3 (Form 62)" : Letter from the War Office dated 9 February 1924, detailing the award of the Meritorious Service Medal and 10 pound annunity. The reverse of the letter inquires as to how William Coupland would like to receive his medal, either by "formal presentation" or "registered post".


Document 5:

"O.F. Form 123." : William Coupland apparently choose to receive the medal by registered post. This document is a notice for the posting of registered mail.


Document 6:

This is a letter to William Coupland from the War Office dated the 19 th February 1924. The letter informs him that the King is pleased to present the payment of a 10 pound annunity to commence from 14th July 1923.
